Project MuSE

Project MuSE is a multi-year transformational education project. The scope of the project covers a wide range of opportunities for the under-privileged, gifted students, parents' engagement, community music, industry-higher education collaboration, and curriculum development such as the use of EdTech, art-tech, interdisciplinary learning, cross-cultural studies, and performance and pedagogical research. A key component of the project includes a new 5-6 years music programme that includes an in-school/after-school instrumental ensemble-based music training for primary school students.

The Project is inviting applications with research background for the following post to focus on impact measurement of this transformative project:

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Impact Measurement – Music) (23241005)

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design of an evidence-based outcome measurement framework for the music aspect of the project;
  • Design an evidence-based outcomes framework, including assessment methodologies and data tracking approaches;
  • Strengthen and refine key outcome indicators on time;
  • Stay informed about relevant social and educational developments, including government policies and similar projects, to assess their impact on the project;
  • Conduct timely reviews to enhance participant satisfaction and improve student learning experiences;
  • Write detailed reports and produce articles for internationally refereed journals or other respected publications; and
  • Perform any other delegated duties as required.

Requirements:

  • A recognised doctoral degree with substantial experience in educational research, action research, research methodologies, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • A strong background in music is desired; 
  • Experience in measurement tools such as WHO Well-being Index, Social-Emotional and Character Development Scale, and music literacy skills measurement is beneficial;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders from music, social, and cultural sectors and academia; and
  • A results-oriented approach to impact measurement while remaining open-minded to different stakeholder perspectives for project review and improvement.

The initial appointments will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
