Analyst – 2 Year Position Description

Carlyle Korea is looking to offer an Analyst – 2 Year position in our Seoul office. Selected candidates are expected to begin the role in late 2024.

The Analyst role is a 2-year program where the candidate will closely work with Carlyle Korea investment professionals and global teams, the management teams and Carlyle’s high quality advisors. The breadth of industries, the multiple types of investments and the overall deal volume will provide a unique opportunity to gain significant business, investing and analytical experience in a short period of time. 2 years of intensive high quality experience will provide a solid foundation for candidates to pursue future career aspirations.

As a member of the Carlyle Korea deal team, the Analyst – 2 Year will be responsible for:

  • Conducting comprehensive research on targeted industries and companies for investment purposes.
  • Performing extensive due diligence (financial, legal, tax, accounting, commercial, etc.) on potential investment opportunities and draft investment committee memos.
  • Developing valuation models to assess the attractiveness of potential acquisition / investment targets.
  • Managing portfolio companies post investment and prepare periodic reporting and presentation materials.

 

Position Qualifications

We target a candidate who is a dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English.

  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates should possess a tertiary degree, preferably in finance, economics, business, or a related field, with a strong academic record from a reputable academic institution.
  • Work Experience: Carlyle is open to candidates who are recent graduates with relevant internship experience at professional institutions in finance, as well as full-time professionals with 1-2 years of work experience. Experience at top-tier private equity firms, investment banks, or management consulting firms is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and portfolio management, along with experience in conducting due diligence and supporting the execution of complex transactions.

A preferred candidate would have a great desire to learn, strong analytical and quantitative skills, solid understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and accounting skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and finance-related programs/websites. Prior internship experience in private equity, investment banking, accounting, or consulting is highly preferred.
